Halloween Pics...

The kids had a really fun halloween this year!! As usual, we trick-or-treated at the neighbors around us (we live in the country, so there was a grand total of 3 houses we went to!), and then we went to our church for Great October Days (G.O.D.) - kind of like a carnival with games and bounce houses and of course lots of candy!! For the Cutest Costume Contest - Abby & Katelyn (well actually they were "the cheerleaders") were in the top 3 in the 3-5yr old category! They didn't win, but they LOVED just getting to go up on stage!! They weren't sad they didn't win though...they were just sad when they had to come down off the stage!! But they got to spend the night at Grandma Cheryl's afterwards, so overall - a VERY fun night!! :)

Two stinkin cute cheerleaders!! Katelyn wanted pig tails "towards the front", and Abby wanted "3 pony tails in the back!" I think they're both gonna big major "type A" personalities!!

Pumpkins!!!!

OK...so a little late...but tonight we finally carved pumpkins with the kids. (Well actually, just with A&K because Micah was in bed!) They were both very specific this year about what they wanted their pumpkins to look like. (And I mean VERY specific!!) Abby wanted circle eyes (which daddy had to re-draw a 2nd time b/c the 1st attempt at eyes was "NOT big enough!", a triangle nose, and a mouth with two teeth! Katelyn wanted a girl pumpkin - with rectangle eyes WITH EYELASHES,eyebrows "that slant down so they look mean", a square nose, and "girl lips." Then of course when Abby saw that Katelyn's was a girl pumpkin, she started to get upset because she didn't want hers to be a boy pumpkin!!! So mommy swooped in and saved the day by drawing long eyelashes on hers, and all was well!!

We had a good time though (very specific instructions and all!), and they were so excited to light them up and put them on the porch "so all the people who drive by our house will know what our faces look like!"

Here's some action shots. (And if you'll notice, both girls are in leotards!! They were playing dress up, and making their mommy freeze just by LOOKING at them!! But of course - "we're not cold mommy, we're hot!" Yeah right!! More like, "we're not gonna admit to being cold because we really want to wear these!" They think they're so smart!!) :-D

Belated Pics from My Bday

Hi Everyone!! We've been super extremely busy this week so I haven't had a chance to put up pictures from last weekend. These are a few pictures from Saturday night when we celebrated my bday with my family.

A Bittersweet Day for this Mommy

Tuesday was both a very exciting day for all of us, as well as a somewhat sad day for this mommy. My babies had their first day of school!!! Abby and Katelyn started their first day of pre-school on Tuesday, and they were SO excited to go to school!!!! They each had their own back pack, and they were so cute!! Since it was the very first day, the parents were allowed to stay the whole time, part of the time, or none of the time - depending on what the kids wanted. The last couple days before school started, Abby kept saying she was "gonna be nervous" and that she wanted me to stay the whole time, and Katelyn said she didn't want me to stay any of the time! I told her I'd leave her alone and just stay by Abby if that's what she wanted, and that was the plan. Once we got there, they each sat down on the circle rug (not anywhere near each other!) and they never even looked at me again after that. After about 45 minutes, I asked them if they wanted me to leave, and they both very animatedly told me - yes! they wanted me to "go away!" :-) They did great, and they absolutely loved their first day of school!! The other half of their class is having their first day today, and next week, they'll start going every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. They're both telling Aaron and I (quite often) that they're "big pre-school girls now" - it's very cute!!

I think I mentioned that we had a busy morning yesterday. The kids got haircuts, and then when we got home - a friend from church came over to help make some decisions for a baby shower we're planning. Anyways...while she was here, A & K were coloring with some markers and coloring books in the other room. They were in a very spunky, playful mood, and they kept peaking their heads around the corner and giggling. About 10 minutes into that, Katelyn runs in and says "Mommy, mommy - Abby is in there putting make-up on, and it's all over her face!!! Come see!!" I went to try and see how bad the damage was (I thought she had gotten into my make-up), but she kept hiding her face and giggling. I saw a glimpse of pink and green on her face and realized she'd been applying this make-up ala markers! So I (as calmly as I can) tell her to stop coloring her face with markers. She said ok, and I went back into the other room. The next thing I know - out runs Katelyn with black marker all over her face! Before I can even start yelling at her for doing what I had just told her sister not to do - she very smugly tells me, "Mommy you told Abby not to color her face with markers, but you didn't tell me!"

Good thing crayola makes washable markers!! :-)

What?! The twins are no longer identical?!

Ok...so they're still very much identical, but just for fun - I took a picture of them together after Katelyn's haircut and before Abby's (top picture)!! One of the very few times in their life they actually look different at first glance!! :-) As you can see by the second picture - it didn't last long! Sorry to disappoint all of you who still can't tell them apart - but they still have matching haircuts! :-)

Gotta Love Two of Everything!!

Ahh, having twins!! Most of the time at our house there are one of two scenarios going on: 1) Abby & Katelyn have exactly the same thing and are very happy campers....OR...2) they have any variety of: almost the same thing, different colors of the same thing, or just completely different things. I can tell you from personal experience that scenario #2 is almost never a good thing...in fact it almost always results in major drama - usually with one crying and screaming how it's just not fair that her sister has something so much better than her - all the while her sister (the one with the "good" thing) is smugly sitting there making disgustingly sweet faces at her screaming sister!!

Anyways...all that to say - the other day I had my camera out and was looking through the pictures on my memory card. Abby came up and got in my lap and wanted me to take a picture of her and I together. So she smiled like the beautiful princess she is, we took a very nice picture (top picture above), and that was that. About five minutes later Katelyn comes up and Abby smugly tells her "Katelyn - I just took a picture with mommy, and you didn't get to!!" (Can you guess the reaction?!) Katelyn immediately starts her crying, whining temper tantrum mode - accusing me of never ever ever taking pictures with her!! After the fit subsides and she's calm enough to actually hear the words coming out of my mouth - she finally hears me saying that I would absolutely love to take a picture with her - all she has to do is ask me nicely and stop whining. Immediately her fit stops, she grins and giggles loudly, climbs in my lap, and we took the picture you see on the bottom!!

KIDS!!! I wish my bad moods could be cured so quickly!! :-P

My Girls

Ok...so I posted lots of pictures of Micah yesterday, so I thought I'd show off my beautiful girls today!! :-) Abby & Katelyn are 4 1/2 (quick to remind me not to forget the 1/2!), and they are two balls of constant energy!! They are identical twins, and they deinitely have a love/hate relationship - and by that I mean they either LOVE each other and get along beautifully...or they HATE each other and bite, kick, scream (you name it) to each other!! They absolutely love their baby brother and are huge helpers to their mommy!! I happen to think all 3 of my children are the most beautiful kids in the entire world...but I guess some would say I'm a bit biased!! :-)
